"So...What do you want to talk about?"

When Cody Rhodes came back to the WWE from AEW, I was like many others and wanted to shun him from coming back from a promotion that seemed to be failing due to a lot of controversies. But then I listened to him. And I watched him. I resonated with him. And before I knew it...I looked up to him. Wrestling Seth Rollins with a torn pec muscle illustrated his passion for this business, his duty to his father's legacy, and the redemption of forging his own. From that moment on, he became a bonafide hero.

I believed in Cody Rhodes.

For two years, I have been invested in his story and how it will all play out. Through the ups and downs, I admired his persistence to keep going and to do so with sportsmanlike conduct, honor, and integrity. He's everything you want in a baby-face champion, he's everything you want in a role model. Cody Rhodes is the Captain America of our age. Win, lose, or draw he was a champion without the belt and anyone could see it...but you really wanted to see him WIN. So when he lost at Wrestlemania 39, it was devastating.

But then he RALLIED.

He didn't quit. He didn't stop. He Kept. Moving. FORWARD. and after two years of working hard through all the obstacles thrown at him especially when the Final Boss - The Rock - entered the mix, tonight Cody achieved his father's dream and finished the story being the first of his family to hold WWE championship gold.

Watching all this makes me want to finish MY story. To continue to face the challenges against me with the same kind of tenacity as Cody Rhodes when chasing the WWE Undisputed championship title from the most dominant Champion who has held the title for over 3 years. A hero is only as great as the villains he faces, the harder the fight, the greater the prize. Cody finished his story tonight, whereas I still have a few more chapters to go, but I will #FinishTheStory.

Congrats to the new WWE Undisputed Champion and an unfathomable thank you to the Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns for making it all worthwhile.

This is why I still love pro wrestling: for moments and stories like these.
